How it begun:

The Adaugusta - The Quiz Game is the continuation of the previous called Adaugusta EPSO. In 2009 the EPSO has changed it's exam system, and as a result we decided to go along with the changes and upgrade our game to a general knowledge quiz game. With a brand new design, story and game-play we created a Roman Empire look-and-feel quiz game, where just like in the previous version you can play with two other players. The engine has been also rewritten, having a much more robust and modular structure enabling the players to reconnect if for some reason they were disconnected, a new chat system, new client-server system and much was implemented in the new version.

Description:

AdAugusta is a multiplayer and multilingual quiz game, testing general knowledge. Questions are grouped into the following categories: History, Geography, Literature, Film, Music, General, Science and Technique, Social Sciences, Sport,Popular personalities,Hobby, Arts and Culture,The European Union. Each question is available in the different languages of the game, therefor it is possible for the first time for two people, who don’t know each other’s language to play together.

Currently the AdAugusta is the only multi-player and multi-lingual quiz game in which you can compare your knowledge with the world – all for free!

Technical description:

Among the many technical challenges one of the most interesting was how to color the map, in a very precise way. Our solution lied in the Degrapha (or declarative graphical) framework, which enabled us, to combine different colorings on one SVG object. Therefore with a complex coloring algorithm we could simulate the "army of a player" which conquers the enemy territories.
